Headphones taught to identify alcoholic intoxication

A team of engineers has created headphones that can track changes in blood alcohol levels in real time. The device will analyze the skin discharge.

Briefly about the invention writes Naked Science. Scientists took a pair of ordinary headphones and modified them. Ethanol vapor detectors were built into them. The resulting device monitors gas emitted through the skin of the ears. If the sensor is triggered, the indicator light will come on. The brightness can be used to determine the concentration of alcohol.

The headphones have already been tested on volunteers. The men were given a drink before the experiment. Then the scientists measured the level of alcohol in their blood in two ways: by breathing and through headphones. The obtained indicators turned out to be similar. However, the data received through the headphones can be interfered with by sweat.
