“I decided to wait outside”: satirist Shenderovich left Russia

The satirist Viktor Shenderovich decided to leave Russia because of the lawsuit filed by businessman-propagandist Yevgeny Prigozhin.

He announced this on his Facebook page .

Shenderovich said that he always arrived on summons for interrogations and in courts, but decided to refrain “from direct participation in the criminal case, which is shining on him at the request of” the Kremlin chef “Prigozhin”.

“I made the decision to wait outside,” Shenderovich wrote and added that the Kremlin had been hinting to leave Russia for 20 years and now this decision is forced.

“Forced departure from the homeland is also imprisonment, of course …”, the writer stressed.

It should be noted that at the end of 2021, Shenderovich announced Prigozhin's conviction . He filed a libel suit – in this case, the writer faces up to 5 years in prison.

Prigozhin asked to initiate a criminal case because of Shenderovich's statements on the Ekho Moskvy air about Prigozhin's connection with Wagner's private military company, whose employees, the publicist claimed, were involved in the murder of Russian journalists in the CAR. Prigogine denies any connection with PMC Wagner.

Yevgeny Prigozhin is a Russian businessman, restaurateur, owner of a catering business, founder of a troll factory from Holgin, one of the key figures in the Russian-Ukrainian information war.
