In the Kharkiv region, a 51-year-old man was convicted with particular cruelty for the murder of his wife. He poured gasoline on the woman and set it on fire.

A terrible incident took place in March last year in Pervomaiskiy. The reason for the quarrel between the spouses was that the man reproached his wife for abusing alcohol.

At the same time, he started the scandal when himself was intoxicated. When the man finished all the vodka that was at home, he silently left the house and went to the garage.

From there he brought a full bottle with a mixture of gasoline and oil. Without any warning, the man poured this liquid over his wife, who was sitting on the couch at that time.

Later, during interrogation, the suspect admitted that his victim tried to run out of the house, but he closed all the doors.

The man pushed her onto the sofa, threw a lighted match, and the flame instantly fell onto the woman.

The neighbors saw the smoke from the house in time and reported this to the victim's daughter, who immediately rushed to save her mother.

The woman was hospitalized in intensive care with 30% burns on the surface of her body: she died a day later

What the court decided

During the pre-trial investigation, the unfortunate husband did not deny his guilt.

At the same time, he tried to assure law enforcement officers that after the arson he went to bed to the next room and did not remember what happened next.

By the verdict of the Pervomaisky District Court, the 51-year-old man was found guilty and punished in the form of ten years in prison.

Until the sentence has entered into force, the defendant has the right to appeal.
