Servicemen found a man who swam across the Western Bug on a mattress. Thus, he wanted to get to Ukraine.

As it became known, the offender turned out to be a Russian. He has already been detained.

According to the border guards, servicemen of the Rivne department detained a Russian who swam across on a mattress through the Western Bug to get to Ukraine.

The man was stopped by a border patrol as soon as he crossed the border. According to the Russian, he lived in Ukraine, and after going abroad he could not legally return back.

After compiling all the relevant documents, the offender will be held accountable in accordance with the current legislation of Ukraine,” noted border guards.

How many men died trying to illegally cross the border

Director of the State Border Protection Department Leonid Baran said earlier that weather conditions are the most common cause of deaths at the border. In addition, it is known that most often men try to cross the border in the Western regions, in particular in Transcarpathia, where nature is especially cruel.

As it became known, during the autumn-winter period, the number of deaths is no less 10 people.
