Elena Zelenskaya remembered the night of February 23-24, when Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The first lady noted that the day before was a normal working day and evening.

Zelenskaya told how she woke up between 04:00 and 05:00 on February 24 from a roar. The first lady did not immediately realize that these were explosions. She saw that Vladimir Zelensky had already been assembled. The first lady said: that was the last time she saw her husband in a suit and a white shirt.

Zelensky only told his wife: “it started.”

Zelenskaya noticed that there was no panic. Just confusion. The first lady recalled asking what she should do with the children. The President said that now wait, and then he will report. Zelensky advised his wife to collect the necessary things and documents just in case and left home.
