Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko believes that the heroism of Kyiv's defenders made Russian infidels realize that it will not be possible to conquer all of Ukraine. He also forced them to retreat.
Klitschko spoke about this in an interview with reporters. Also, the Kyiv mayor reported on the most difficult moment for him personally during the war, channel 24 reports.
If not for such resistance, the Russians would not they are too tough
According to Klitschko, if there were no such resistance, the Russians would not understand that Kyiv is too tough for them. And then the scenario would have been completely different.
This is thanks to the people who protected him. There were many people who were not physically strong, but showed themselves to be people with a steel rod. I went to control, and there was one point for issuing weapons. It was the second or third day of the war. Night, wind, snow. And almost a kilometer queue. People stood in line for weapons to meet the enemy. Respect to each of them,” Klitschko said.
He noted that many of the defenders of Kyiv do not even consider themselves heroes. They just did what they thought was right and right at that moment.
The mayor of Kyiv also spoke about the most difficult days for the defense of Kyiv and the most difficult moment for him personally.
“I was never scared. But there was tension, because no one was prepared for such a development of events. Actually In fact, we already calculated different scenarios from the wheels. If the intervention takes place already in Kyiv, what and how we should protect. We made checkpoints, defensive structures and were already preparing for street battles,” Mayor Klitschko said.
< p>The mayor of the capital added that the most difficult moment was emotionally when we arrived at the station. It was filled with people leaving.
“We went to the children's corner, there was a boy about 6-7 years old. He cried: “Where is dad, where is mom?” I approached him with the words: everything will be fine, don't worry, you've done well, hold on, etc. “I wanted to cheer him up. And one woman came up and said: “This boy does not yet know that he no longer has parents,” Klitschko admitted.
The politician added that this moment was very emotionally difficult.
