Part of the Great Wall of China collapsed due to an earthquake in China: details

Nine people were injured.

About two meters of the Great Wall of China collapsed as a result of an earthquake in Qinghai province of China.

This is reported by the Global Times.

An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.9 occurred in Shandan county in the northwestern province Gansu.

After visiting the cultural sites, the authorities installed supports at the site of the destruction and began repair and restoration work. Nine people were injured, of which eight have already been discharged from the hospital, and one is still under medical supervision.

The collapsed section of the Great Wall of China dates back to the time of the Ming Empire (1368-1644).

The Great Wall of China is a dividing wall with a length of almost 9000 km (total length – 21.2 thousand km), built in ancient China. The largest architectural monument. The construction of the first sections of the wall began in the 3rd century BC. e. during the Warring States Period (475-221 BC) to protect the state from the Xiongnu. The construction involved a fifth of the then population of the country, that is, about a million people.

Recall that in Brazil, part of the rock fell on boats with vacationers and drowned pleasure boats.

As a result of the fall, at least 7 people were killed , 32 were injured, and three more are still looking for rescuers.

It all happened at a local lake, where tourists often like to swim. The witnesses managed to record the moment of the fall. They were the first to see how a giant block is separated from the rock, and tried to warn others with shouts.

Unfortunately, three ships did not have time to sail, one of them flooded altogether.

Rescuers assume that that the rock broke off due to the softening of the soil after the rains.
