Today, when Ukraine is fighting Russian aggression, more than 30 streets are being renamed in Lviv. We are talking about those who are named after Russian figures who are not associated with the city and Ukraine in general.

This initiative was made by a group of historians, political scientists, literary critics and philologists, in particular Igor Petriy, Taras Rad , Daniil Ilnitsky and Bogdan Tikholoz.

According to the initiators, especially during the war, “toponymy of the city and its cultural space as a whole requires systemic and complete de-Russification and decolonization”.

Thus, the listed streets are proposed to be named after outstanding figures of Ukrainian history and culture.

Taras Radi noted that the initiative is in the process of being developed, and in the near future it will be officially presented to the Lviv City Council.
