A man was saved in the Rivne hospital by pulling out a piece of debris stuck 1 centimeter from his heart. His wife, unfortunately, died under shelling.
Sergey's family came under shelling while driving along the Zhytomyr highway. This was reported on the official page of the hospital.
The wife died, covering her one and a half year old daughter. Sergei and the child were severely injured. Volunteers took them to Rivne.
My child and I received multiple shrapnel wounds. First aid was rendered to us in Boyarka, after which the volunteers took us to Rivne. I was hospitalized with a diagnosis of “a penetrating gunshot wound to the chest on the right,” Sergey wrote.
Sergey was found to have a 5-centimeter fragment that broke a rib, damaged a lung and got stuck a centimeter from the heart. Rivne doctors successfully pulled out the fragment.
The man is very grateful to the doctors for saving his life. “Now I can breathe freely and take care of my little daughter!” Sergey added.
