On Saturday, December 31, at about 20:00 (local time), a fire broke out at the Rostov nuclear power plant in the Russian city of Volgodonsk.

According to the official version, the cause of the fire was that during work at power unit No. 3, oil flared up on the transformer.

As a result of this incident, one worker died, the other is in intensive care.

All emergency services are on the scene. The power unit where the emergency occurred is not working, it is disconnected from the network.

Local publications report that on December 1, the 3rd power unit of the Rostov NPP was stopped for a scheduled overhaul lasting 43 days.

< p>At the power unit, it is planned to overhaul the reactor plant and its main equipment, overhaul the turbogenerator, repair the main equipment of the turbine department and repair the security systems.
