After Germany gave the green light to supply its Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine, a number of partners expressed their desire to provide our appropriate assistance to the country. Among them is Spain.

After the decision of Berlin, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius convened a meeting of 6 countries that have Leopard tanks in service. Among those present was Spanish Defense Minister Margarita Robles, who said that Madrid could provide Ukraine with more than fifty tanks.

How many tanks Ukraine can get from Spain

Margarita Robles said that Spain is ready to provide Ukraine with German tanks and called on NATO allies who have this equipment in service to do the same. According to the head of the Spanish defense department, Madrid can transfer 53 Leopard 2 A4 tanks to Ukraine. However, as noted by the Minister, not all of them, unfortunately, are serviceable.

Some of them cannot be used, we are going to analyze which ones can be converted, – Robles clarified.

The Spanish Minister of Defense stressed that ending the war is a clear goal of the allies. However, to maintain peace, coordinated work is needed to support our state.

Partners provide Ukraine with Leopard tanks

On January 25, Germany made a historic decision to provide Ukraine with Leopard 2 A6 tanks. Berlin, within the first package, provides us with 14 units of this equipment. In addition, the German government allowed the supply of its tanks from other countries.

Even before the announcement of the decision from Germany to provide tanks on January 11, during a visit to Lvov, Polish President Andrzej Duda said. Warsaw will also provide Ukraine with 14 pieces of equipment.

In addition, Portugal and Canada will provide Ukraine with 4 Leopard 2 tanks. Norway is also ready to provide 8 tanks. The Netherlands is considering buying 18 tanks leased from Germany to provide Ukraine.

Finland plans to join the tank coalition. The number of tanks that Helsinki can provide us is still unknown. Denmark is also ready to provide tanks, but the number of units is also unknown.
