In the United States fired a Russian because of the post on the storming of the Capitol

Andrei Illarionov, senior researcher at the American Cato Institute, who served as an adviser to the Russian president, no longer works in a research organization. He wrote about this on his page in LiveJournal.

“As the vice-president of the Institute told me, the reason [for the dismissal] is the content of the postscripts attached to my post on this blog, the Burning of the Reichstag – 2021,” Illarionov explained.

He also said that when he got a job at the Institute, he regularly asked about the organization's position on a particular topic. However, the management responded with the same: “The Institute has no other position than the protection of individual freedom. On any issues there is not the position of the Institute, there are different positions of the Institute's employees, for the expression of which they have every right, ”he added.

Now, according to Illarionov, this approach has changed. “As I have said more than once, freedom of speech is the foundation, the starting point, of a free society,” he concluded.

On January 14, it was reported that the Cato Institute had suspected Illarionov of spreading conspiracy theories about the US presidential election and the storming of the Capitol. In particular, the institute's attention was drawn to a blog entry that the storming of the Capitol was a “trap” by the police. Illarionov also accused representatives of the Black Lives Matter movement (BLM, “Black Lives Are Important”) of provocations against supporters of President Donald Trump.

The storming of the Capitol building in the United States took place on January 6 during a rally of supporters of the current head of state, who do not recognize the results of the November vote, which resulted in the election of Democrat Joe Biden as president. The rallies led to clashes with the police. Five people died, dozens were detained.
