In Ukraine, Zelensky urged to buy Russian vaccine against coronavirus

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has been urged to purchase a Russian vaccine against coronavirus infection, Oleksandr Kachura, a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada from the pro-presidential faction Servant of the People, said.

However, according to him, Kiev should buy Russian-made serum if the drug proves its effectiveness, Izvestia writes.

We will remind, earlier Zelensky said that Ukraine will have a “real” vaccine against covid from foreign colleagues. He also expressed disbelief in the anti-infection serum invented by Russian scientists.

This reaction of the Ukrainian leader was probably provoked by the statements and requests of Viktor Medvedchuk, co-chairman of the Ukrainian Opposition Platform for Life (Opposition Platform for Life) party. The day before, he met with Russian leader Vladimir Putin. They discussed the possibility of supplying Russian serum from the Sputnik V coronavirus to Ukraine. Medvedchuk also said that he and his family members have already been vaccinated against covid-19 with Russian-made serum.
