In Vienna, the suicide belt of the liquidated terrorist was considered a fake

Vienna Mayor Michael Ludwig suggested that the explosives on the body of the liquidated terrorist were a fake. He stated this on the air of the ORF TV channel.

The head of the city previously claimed that one of the attackers could have a suicide belt. “The police worked outside the restaurant to clarify whether the suspicion that he had an explosive belt under his jacket could be confirmed,” Ludwig said.

According to him, the belt with explosives is most likely fake, but experts took the substance for inspection. Initially, the Austrian media reported that one of the terrorists was blown up by explosives, but later the police officially rejected this version. According to law enforcement officials, he really could have had explosives with him, but was eliminated by the security forces.

On the evening of 2 November, several armed men opened fire in six different parts of Vienna. The first shots were fired at 20:00 local time (22:00 Moscow time) at the synagogue in the center of the capital. As a result of the attack, at least one person was killed and several were injured, including a badly wounded policeman. The security officials managed to shoot one of the attackers, later four were detained. The Austrian Interior Ministry proceeds from the fact that the incident was a terrorist attack.
