The International Space Station (ISS) lost its orientation in space during the testing of the engines of the Soyuz MS-18 manned spacecraft, on which the film crew of the film “Challenge” will return to Earth. This followed from the negotiations of the astronauts, which were broadcast by NASA.

– We received an emergency message from colleagues (from the American segment of the station) – a loss of orientation, – said Anton Shkaplerov, a cosmonaut in the Moscow Region, to a specialist in the Mission Control Center.

The specialist explained that the traffic control system was being tested.

Later, information appeared that the ISS re-established its orientation with the help of the engines of the Russian segment.

Recall that on Thursday, October 14, at 12:40 Moscow time, the Soyuz-2.1b launch vehicle with the Fregat upper stage and 36 British OneWeb communication satellites launched from the Vostochny cosmodrome. This was the sixth launch of OneWeb satellites from the Vostochny cosmodrome. After him, the number of British vehicles in orbit increased to 358. The last time OneWeb satellites were launched from Vostochny on July 1, 2021.
