Kinburn Spit is the "key" to three large ports, – veteran of the Ukrainian Navy

It is very important for Ukraine to de-occupy and control the Kinburn Spit. It is the “key” to three large ports.

This opinion Channel 24 was voiced by Andrey Ryzhenko, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (in 2004-2020). In general, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are destroying the invaders on the Kinburn Spit.

Kinburn Spit is the “key” to the ports

Ryzhenko said that the Kinburn Spit is the “key “to the ports of Kherson, Nikolaev, Ochakov. Russia has mobile units on the spit that open fire on ships in this zone. So, it was October 31 with a barge with grain, which was coming from Nikolaev.

The Russians fired a lot of rockets, just destroyed the tugs, killed the crews of the tugs. By the way, the fate of one person is still not known. This also applies to other ships. This is because the Russians control the Kinburn Spit, – said the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (in 2004-2020).

He added that, unfortunately, we do not have enough mobile boats for the Marine Corps and SOF, which could land units and provide fire support from the sea. Therefore, it is difficult for us to take a scythe. Such boats will also be appropriate when we liberate the Azov coast.

Navy needs to be developed

According to the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (in 2004-2020), we have 1,400 kilometers of coast, 2/3 of which are occupied. It will be difficult to take control of such territory. Therefore, the Navy needs to be developed. Unfortunately, a large package of military assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine was announced on Ramstein, but there is no Navy there.

“The maritime economy, we have seen, is very important for Ukraine. It is also important for the world. Even a small amount of grain, which we supply to the common market is very important for the world and for international organizations,” Ryzhenko said.
