The Kosovo police said that one of their units was attacked near the border with Serbia. A total of 10 shots were fired.

Recently, the Kosovo authorities decided to make it mandatory to re-register vehicles with Serbian license plates and documents issued by Serbia. After that, relations between the countries significantly strained. However, the conflict died down when Kosovo postponed the implementation of this decision for 30 days.

The Kosovo police were shot at the border

The Kosovo police said that on August 6, at about 11:25 am, an armed attack was made on the police squad of the Zubin Potok border control department.

Shooting began during the deployment of a patrol boat in Lake Ujman, not far from the border with Serbia. According to law enforcers, they were shot about 10 times.

The shots were consecutive, from the other side of the lake, they hit the police boat. As a result of these shots, no one was injured, the police added.

A quick reaction squad of the border police went to help the law enforcement officers. They are inspecting the area and investigating the matter.

The police concluded that they will continue to do everything for the security of the region and will fight crime, with a special focus on smuggling.
