The multipurpose laboratory module “Science” will leave for the International Space Station this evening. The launch is scheduled for 17:58 Moscow time, the site kp.ru will broadcast live on Wednesday, July 21.
The official website of the state corporation “Roscosmos” reports that the new Russian module “Science” is intended to increase the technical and operational capabilities of the domestic segment of the International Space Station.
– The laboratory module will provide an opportunity to implement a research program for the development of fundamental science and social sphere. In particular, it will contribute to the development and build-up of the Russian segment of the station.
The launch of the Proton-M rocket with the Nauka module will be carried out from the launcher No. 39 of the launch pad No. 200 of the Baikonur cosmodrome.
As the site kp.ru wrote, the launch was originally supposed to take place on July 15 of this year, and docking with the International Space Station on July 23, but at the beginning of this month, the new Russian module was decided to return to the assembly and test building in order to solve the previously discovered problem.
