Lavrov: answers to Russia’s proposals will be presented next week
A written response to Moscow’s proposals on security guarantees will be presented next week, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said at a press conference following a meeting with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken. This is reported by TASS.
The Minister said that the US Secretary of State was satisfied with the exchange of opinions. He added that this “interim” meeting will help the American side prepare a written reaction to the Russian proposals by next week.
At the beginning of the meeting, Sergey Lavrov expressed hope that the American side, after preparing the report of the US State Department on Russian disinformation in Ukraine, had time for a substantive consideration of Russia’s proposals.
In turn, Blinken said that Washington is ready for a tough response to Moscow’s possible aggression against Kiev. At the same time, according to him, the United States is committed to the path of diplomacy and dialogue to resolve political issues and conflicts.
Earlier, negotiations between Lavrov and Blinken ended in Geneva. The dialogue lasted only an hour and a half. Even before the event, both diplomats said they did not expect any big breakthroughs in the current relations between Russia and the United States from the meeting.
