Leopard for Ukraine: Finland discusses the creation of a tank unit in Europe

The Finnish leader noted that it is not enough to “take one tank here and another there.”

Finnish President Sauli Niinoste announced that his state is discussing the possibility of creating a powerful division of Leopard tanks in Europe for Ukraine.

Ninoste said this at a joint briefing with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv.

“We need to keep in mind that the ongoing discussion about tanks is a relatively larger unit. Taking one tank here and another there is not enough. There should be a powerful division in Europe. We are discussing the possibility of creating such a unit, we are considering options,” the President of Finland said.

He assured that the state would contribute to the creation of such a unit.

Niinoste also said that Finland – one of the few countries in Europe that conducts conscription into the ranks of the armed forces, has experienced instructors and infrastructure.

The President of Finland noted that the country must remain vigilant and cautious.
