Kuleba calls to join the tank coalition
Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba noted that the tank coalition has been formed. He called on new partners armed with Leopard 2 tanks to join the new tank coalition.
“Everyone who doubted that this could happen now sees that nothing is impossible for Ukraine and partners. I urge everyone new partners armed with Leopard 2 tanks to join the coalition and provide them as much as possible. Now they are free,” wrote Kuleba.
Smigal hopes for coalition expansion
Prime Minister Denis Smihal also expressed gratitude to the German government and all countries that are ready to donate Leopard 2 to Ukraine.
Germany has granted permission to other countries to re-export “leopards” to Ukraine. We expect to attract a wide range of partners to the tank coalition in order to get as many tanks as possible in the shortest possible time. We are grateful to the Government of Germany and all countries that are ready to transfer Leopard 2 to Ukraine,” he wrote.
What is known about Germany's decision
- 25 January Germany agreed to transfer a company of Leopard 2 tanks (14 tanks) to Ukraine and allowed re-export to other countries.
- The German government said that Berlin's goal is to quickly raise two tank battalions with Leopard 2 tanks for Ukraine.
- Training for the Ukrainian crew should begin soon, the press service notes.
