The Ambassador of Lithuania returns to the capital of Ukraine. Therefore, the diplomatic representation of the country will begin to fully work. The Lithuanians also partly break off relations with Russia.
The corresponding decision was made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania. This was announced by its head Gabrielius Landsbergis on his Twitter.
What happened to the Russian mission
The publication about the ambassador's return to Ukraine appeared after lunch on 4 April. The decision of the Ministry was highly appreciated not only by subscribers from Lithuania, but also by Ukrainians.
The Lithuanian Ambassador to Ukraine is returning to Kyiv. The Russian ambassador was asked to leave Lithuania. This decision has been made today,” Landsbergis wrote.
As for the representation of Russia, it will not become too limited. However, now it will be without its leader, who could previously represent the aggressor country at solemn events.
When the representatives of Lithuania left Kyiv
The fact that part of the Lithuanian diplomats were taken from the capital to Lvov , became known on February 17. This was explained back then by the potential danger of an invasion. However, the country noted that not all embassy employees are mentioned.
Probably everyone else was taken out after the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24th. However, now they will gradually return to Kyiv to help the citizens living there.
