The Frenchman Pierre Gasly was surprisingly ahead.
In the wet Formula 1 final training in Turkey, the Frenchman Pierre Gasly surprisingly set the fastest time. On the damp asphalt in Istanbul, the Alpha Tauri driver almost relegated the Red Bull duo Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez to the other places on Saturday. World champion Lewis Hamilton finished 18th in the Mercedes.
The last unit before the qualification (2.00 p.m. / ServusTV), which is supposed to be much drier, was initially characterized by a lot of lathe operators. Verstappen and Williams driver George Russell temporarily lost control of their cars.
Russell even spun into the gravel, which is why the training had to be briefly interrupted. The Briton, like his car, remained undamaged. With increasing duration, the track dried out, but the drivers no longer risked too much.
