The use of Russian and Chinese vaccines is necessary to defeat the coronavirus. The importance of cooperation was stated by French President Emmanuel Macron, RIA Novosti reports with reference to an article in the Journal du Dimanche newspaper.
According to him, the drugs developed by scientists from Russia and China should be included in various programs to combat the pandemic after they are certified by the World Health Organization (WHO). The French leader believes that without a quick and collective international effort, the spread of the coronavirus will be lost.
“We are now fighting mutations [of the coronavirus], which is a real race against time,” Macron said and called the pandemic a “world war”.
Earlier, the WHO representative in Russia, Melita Vuinovich, expressed confidence that all three Russian drugs will successfully pass the certification process and receive permission to use. The organization is now issuing temporary registrations for the use of a vaccine in an emergency.
In Russia itself, vaccination against coronavirus is already underway using two drugs: the Sputnik V two-phase vaccine, developed by the Gamaleya Center and becoming the world's first registered vaccine based on the human adenovirus, as well as the EpiVacCorona drug from the Vector Center. The third vaccine “CooviVac” is expected to be released in February.
