Maybe now the UN will see the fact of the genocide, - the political scientist said that he could change the warrant for the arrest of Putin

On March 17, the International Criminal Court in The Hague issued an arrest warrant for Vladimir Putin. He is suspected of committing a war crime. In particular, the illegal deportation of children from the occupied territories of Ukraine to Russia.

Political scientist Igor Reyterovich told Channel 24 that this precedent could speed up the process of arms supplies to Ukraine from Western countries, because now we are fighting against a legally recognized war criminal and author of the Ukrainian genocide

“No signs of genocide found”

The political scientist expressed hope that this decision of the court will influence the results of the investigation of the special UN commission, whose representatives stated that so far “they have not revealed any signs of genocide in Ukraine.”

“The deportation of children, recognized at the international level as a crime, is just a sign of genocide. After all, thousands of children are being taken out of the occupied territories. Perhaps, after this unprecedented decision, this international commission will begin to look at the facts better and interpret them in the way it should have done with from the very beginning,” Reiterovich stressed.

Some arguments will disappear

In his opinion, the decision of the court in The Hague will also speed up the supply of weapons to Ukraine from Western countries.

Although there is one caveat. Those countries that were already on our side are now doing their best to supply us with these weapons. Therefore, this may affect the countries that provided support to Ukraine very slowly – we seem to be helping, but we are doing it sluggishly. – said the political scientist.

He stressed that now some of the arguments that these countries have made before may disappear.

We will see the result of this decision literally in 2 weeks, because it will additionally influence public opinion in many European countries. he remarked.

According to him, in 2 weeks it will be possible to make a cut of public opinion in the countries whose leadership took the position – we will give 2 or 4 tanks, because the society supports assistance to Ukraine in the ratio of 50/50 or 60/40.

“And the majority of the citizens of these countries, after there is publicity in the media (I can imagine what the covers of publications will be like tomorrow – with Putin behind bars), will begin to think differently,” he is sure.

Society demands

The interlocutor believes that this will manifest itself in the results of the polls. The governments of these countries will look at these results and decide to speed up the supply of weapons to Ukraine.

Because their society demands it. And that's how democracy works,” he explained.

Igor Reiterovich noted that this decision can be called “unprecedented precedent.”

“Unprecedented, because this has never happened before. And precedent, because this decision will push many other things involved in it and they will soon develop,” he stressed.
