Melnik admitted that Putin threatened Scholz with a missile attack on the eve of the war
There was talk of a possible full-blown invasion before it even started. So international leaders tried in every possible way to influence Putin's decision. In particular, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
As Andriy Melnyk, the former Ukrainian ambassador to Germany, said in an interview, Olaf Scholz could have received threats from Vladimir Putin. It is possible that the dictator from the Kremlin warned that he was ready to launch a missile attack on Berlin as well.
Putin pressed on a weak spot
that hedoes not rule out threats from Putin.Especially against the backdrop of statements by former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. So, the ex-ambassador stressed, such a course of events cannot be ruled out.
Because the Russians know that the Germans even have such a concept – german angst. Angst means horror. Ankst is even a well-established term that characterizes this restraint, indecision, attempts to delay the decision until the last moment, – Melnik noted.
Actually, this clearly demonstrates the behavior of the same Olaf Scholz. He postpones fateful decisions to the last. And he does it already when he received the maximum pressure on himself from the international community.
At the same time, the ex-ambassador noted that he managed to gradually change the corresponding matrix. If last year we discussed helmets and anti-tank weapons from Germany, now tanks. As Melnyk added, “for the Germans, this is a quantum leap – to send tanks to Ukraine against Russia.”
What threats did Johnson receive
The day before, Boris Johnson spoke about threats from Putin. He had a telephone conversation with a dictator from the Kremlin. The former prime minister called Moscow and warned that a full-scale war would be a “total catastrophe”.
He tried to explain that criminal actions would cause tougher sanctions. He also assured that in the near future Ukraine will not join NATO. Like, no need to make rash moves.
At some point he threatened me and said: Boris, I don’t want to hurt you, but with a rocket it will only take a minute . Fun,” Johnson said.
The former prime minister noted that Putin was very familiar during the “most extraordinary call.”
