German Chancellor Angela Merkel has announced the risk of a third wave of coronavirus. Reported by Reuters.
According to her, the number of new cases of infection in Germany has stabilized after November 2, the country introduced a “soft lockdown”. However, officials warn that the situation could change at any moment. “In winter, we still have to be very, very attentive (…) otherwise we will have a new wave again,” the chancellor said.
Merkel also spoke out against easing restrictive measures for the Christmas holidays.
Earlier it was reported that the strict quarantine in Germany, which was initially in effect until the end of November, will last until December 20 and will likely be subsequently extended until the end of January next year.
On November 2, Germany imposed a strict quarantine against the background of an increase in cases of coronavirus infection. By order of German Chancellor Angela Merkel, restaurants, bars, cinemas, entertainment venues, fitness clubs, swimming pools were closed, and the work of shops was also limited. Residents of the country are prohibited from gathering in companies of more than ten people in public places.
