Windows 10 will lose one of the built-in browsers. This is reported by the Windows Latest edition.
The journalists of the publication examined the code of the new language pack for the update of Windows 10 21H2 and did not find any mention of one of the browsers in it. Microsoft is expected to remove classic Edge, which is based on the EdgeHTML engine, from the system in a future update. Thus, the OS will only have one built-in program for accessing the Internet – Microsoft Edge, based on the Chromium engine. According to the description, this program features improved performance and improved security.
There are three native browsers in current builds of Windows – legacy Internet Explorer, Edge on EdgeHTML, and Edge on Chromium. It is reported that the first two programs will be permanently removed from the OS, and all data from them will be transferred to the current version of Edge.
At the same time, experts noticed a high degree of integration of EdgeHTML into some built-in services of the operating system. Journalists believe that traces of the engine's presence will be removed from Windows 10 gradually.
Earlier, journalists found aggressive advertisements for built-in Microsoft products in current Windows updates. In particular, using pop-up banners and notifications, the company invites customers to try Windows Hello service, Office programs, Edge browser.
