Microsoft will limit the period of free updates on Windows 11
Following the announcement of Windows 11, Microsoft announced that Windows 10 users will be able to upgrade to the new product for free. However, they will have limited time for this.
The media quoted Microsoft:
There is no specific end date for the free upgrade for eligible systems. However, Microsoft reserves the right to eventually stop providing free updates. The end date will not come until one year after the update was launched on a large scale.

In general, there is no need to worry. Users will have at least a year to have time to upgrade to Windows 11 for free. However, there is one more feature: the update will be released in stages in different regions and countries. That is, somewhere residents will be able to switch to Windows 11 earlier, and somewhere later.
