Poland and Slovakia will transfer MiG-29 aircraft to Ukraine, but our state needs American F-16s to defeat Russia. The fact is that there is a fundamental difference between them.

It consists in the fact that the Soviet MiG-29s are exclusively fighters. Military expert Pavel Narozhny told Channel 24 about this.

What is known about the Soviet MiG-29

Consequently, the MiG-29s are primarily intended for air combat with other aircraft . In addition, the fighter has not developed in any way since the early 1980s, that is, all the avionics of these aircraft are outdated, and the accuracy of the radars cannot be compared with the American F-16s.

“The MiG-29 is very noticeable on radar . It has 2 huge engines that make noise, a lot of smoke comes out of them, there is a large heat spot. That is, this plane is very easy to shoot down,” the military expert said.

What are the advantages of the F-16

The F-16 is a multi-role, SKD aircraft designed as a modification platform. Moreover, from its creation, it has already gone through 7 modifications.

The fact that the F-16 is multi-purpose allows it to be used for various tasks. Conventionally, if he has the task of destroying a certain stronghold of the invaders, and on the way he comes across an enemy fighter, then he can change the task – to eliminate the enemy aircraft and return to the previous course.

Also, the F-16 can destroy ships, that is, it is a platform for carrying Harpoon cruise anti-ship missiles, the military expert said.

According to him, there are many different uses for Western F-16s, including:

• for air targets;
• for earthly purposes;
• for the use of long-range cruise missiles;

In addition, the F-16 was designed as a stealth . So, the inside of the cockpit glass is covered with a gold film. Thus, the radiation of instruments in the cockpit is imperceptible to enemy radars.

“The F-16 is a very serious weapon that cannot be compared with what the Russians have,” the military expert summed up.

The US position on the provision of F-16 has not changed

The United States does not yet plan to send American F-16 multipurpose aircraft to Ukraine. The decision of Poland to transfer Soviet MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine did not affect Washington's position either.

US National Security Council spokesman John Kirby stressed that it was Poland's “sovereign decision”. Moreover, it will not encourage President Joe Biden to provide American F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine.
