Mobilization in Russia and losses during the counteroffensive: a conversation with Alexei Danilov

The Armed Forces of Ukraine launched a successful counteroffensive in several directions at once. And if the Russians were expecting the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the South, then in the Kharkov region, our fighters took them by surprise. Therefore, the Russians suffered significant losses – about 9 more than the Ukrainian army. And against the background of such failures, a dangerous situation begins in Russia.

About the turning point in the war, the losses of the invaders during the counteroffensive, “private” Russian armies, the impending collapse of Russia and Ukraine's desire for NATO – < strong>Oleksiy Danilov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, told Channel 24. Read on for the main theses from the interview.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine went to a successful a counter-offensive that seriously shook the positions of the Russian occupiers in several directions. These are extremely important victories for Ukraine, but don't fall into euphoria just yet. The path to victory is still far away, but it will definitely be.

Danilov recalled Joe Biden's statement about the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was asked if he considers today's events in Ukraine a turning point in the war. In response, Biden said: “It's hard to say. I think it will be a long way.”

However, according to Danilov, the turning point in Russia's war against Ukraine occurred much faster. The first weeks of March were really decisive. Then the world saw how Ukrainians desperately defend their own state.

We broke the course of the war from February 24 to March 15-20. It was during this period that the whole world saw how the Armed Forces of Ukraine were protecting our country,” Danilov noted.

Despite the successful counteroffensive, the NSDC Secretary emphasizes that it is too early to relax. The enemy has a huge amount of weapons, and they are still located in the territories of Donbass, Lugansk, Kherson, Zaporozhye, Nikolaev regions and in the Crimea.

“Ukraine's victory will come when the last Russian soldier leaves Ukraine. And the final victory will be when Russia demilitarizes. It is important that it cannot make such incursions anymore,” he replied.

The Ukrainian military carried out a really decisive counter-offensive in the Kharkiv region. This success is truly amazing, but we must remember that its price is the lives of Ukrainian defenders.

Despite the fact that the invaders defended themselves, their losses were much greater. According to Danilov, the ratio is 1 to 9, and maybe even 1 to 10. This is a unique indicator.

That is, for one of our dead warrior accounts for 9-10 dead Russians who broke into our land. This is a very interesting indicator, because according to the laws of war, you spend much more on the offensive than on defense,” said Alexey Danilov.

He convinces that the Armed Forces break the stereotypes of warfare and pleasantly surprise international partners. Representatives of the West are pleasantly surprised by the skill of the Ukrainian military.

According to Danilov , a rather dangerous situation is beginning to form on the territory of Russia. Against the backdrop of serious failures of the occupiers, Putin no longer trusts his own army so much. He instructed oligarchic groups to create so-called “private armies”.

“This is a rather 'interesting' idea. After all, the Russian elites, in fact, will receive their own armed formations. Such groups will be able to destabilize the situation in Russia even more. And they will still be able to see how Russia is falling apart like a house of cards,” says the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council.

In addition, one should not forget that armed representatives of Ichkeria are fighting on the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Danilov convinces that even during our lifetime these people will go to Moscow and liberate their land from the colonialists.

The Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council notes that the collapse of Russia began at the beginning of a full-scale invasion, when the Armed Forces withstood the onslaught of the invaders. Then the situation for them becomes more and more sad. The whole story will end with the collapse of Russia.

Danilov admits that this will not happen soon. After all, Russia has nuclear weapons. The Western world is aware of this and is trying to do everything so that the situation does not become uncontrollable. They are already considering who could be the next adequate leader of Russia after Putin.

We understand that the West is not very pleased if the situation becomes out of control. They are already looking for who will be the successor after Putin. And today they realize that this situation needs to be kept under control,” Danilov said.

Ukraine is by no means going to refuse to join NATO. This vision is enshrined in the Constitution. No one will cancel the course.

This is the only institution in the world that can give us security guarantees when we become members of this institution. There are no others in the world that would guarantee security to our state, – stressed the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.

However, Kyiv plans to create new defense alliances. The corresponding project has already been developed in the National Security and Defense Council. It is currently under consideration by the Office of the President and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to Danilov, after the victory in the world, new defense alliances will be created. And Ukraine will by no means stand aside. It will include international partners who understand what democracy and a free world are.

Western partners strongly support the Ukrainian army. Compared with the first months of the war, the volume of military aid has increased significantly. The process is moving forward, and the situation is much better than in March

Danilov named the states from which Ukraine received the most military assistance. These are the USA, Great Britain, Canada and the Baltic countries. Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia gave literally the last thing they had.

The Baltic countries gave us almost the last thing they had. They realized that if we did not stand against Russia, then they would be next,” Danilov noted.
