NATO agreed on the deployment of contingents in Romania, Bulgaria, Slovakia

An official statement will be released later.

NATO will deploy multinational contingents in Romania, Slovakia and Bulgaria.

This is reported by the publication Süddeutsche Zeitung.

It is noted that the North Atlantic Alliance agreed to the proposal of the military to deploy contingents in the east of Europe. However, the defense ministers must confirm this decision during a meeting scheduled for next Wednesday, February 16th. After that, a corresponding official statement will be made public. The plan could be implemented as early as this spring.

“Thirty member countries this week accepted the corresponding proposal of the military as part of a written decision-making process,” the report said.

By the way, among the countries allocating troops for contingents, the United States and France are separately noted.

Recall that Hungary refused to deploy additional NATO troops on its territory. Budapest, even against the backdrop of the Russian threat to Ukraine, does not see the point in this, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic, Peter Szijarto.
