NATO frigates tried to conduct electronic reconnaissance of Russian ships during exercises in the Mediterranean. On Wednesday, February 16, reports RIA Novosti, citing a source.
As a result, the crews of Russian missile cruisers detected radar emissions from the ships of the North Atlantic Alliance, determined the parameters of their movement and took them for escort, the source explained.
The exercises of the Russian Navy (Navy) are taking place in the eastern part of the Mediterranean Sea. In total, more than 15 warships take part in them, including the missile cruisers Varyag and Marshal Ustinov, the frigates Admiral Kasatonov and Admiral Grigorovich, as well as large anti-submarine ships Admiral Tributs, Vice Admiral Kulakov » and support vessels. Russian MiG-31K fighters with Kinzhal hypersonic missiles and Tu-22M3 long-range bombers were also deployed to Syria to participate in the exercises.
