NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg called on members of the alliance's military committee to support the defense capabilities of their states, including to be ready for Russia's “aggressive actions”. This is stated in a statement by the chairman of the military committee of the alliance, Stuart Peach.
It is noted that Stoltenberg called on the allies to increase defense spending, invest in modern capabilities and ensure the readiness of the military to respond to challenges such as “Russia's aggressive actions, terrorism and the risks associated with the rise of China.”
In December, Stoltenberg declared that there was no immediate military threat from Russia. At the same time, he added that Russia is using the country's military power against neighboring territories, for example, Ukraine and Georgia.
