Swedish mixed martial artist (MMA) Khamzat Chimaev rejected the comparison with Russian Khabib Nurmagomedov. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
“Everyone compared me to Nurmagomedov, they said that I was the second Khabib. But no, I'm Khamzat, “Chimaev said. The fighter added that he, unlike the Russian, owns a variety of equipment and wants to show himself in a stance, as well as “knock out people, strangle and smear them.”
On September 20, Chimaev, nicknamed the New Khabib, won his third Absolute Fighting Championship (UFC) victory in 66 days and broke the organization's record. The Swede of Chechen origin knocked out his opponent in 17 seconds and received a bonus for spectacular performance in the amount of 50 thousand dollars.
The head of the promotion, Dane White, has repeatedly admired Chimaev's abilities. After this victory, he called the Swede an exceptional fighter. White stated that he had never seen such athletes.
Chimaev is an undefeated fighter. According to the rules of MMA, he had nine fights. He has been in the UFC since July 2020.
