Vladimir Zelensky told the details of his conversation with Charles Michel, President of the European Council. The Ukrainian leader spoke about the threat that Russia created by striking at the ZNPP.

During his evening address, Zelensky called on the world to respond in principle to the attacks on the ZNPP, channel 24 reports.

Therefore, a principled response from the international community to these Russian attacks on the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant, the largest in Europe, is already needed now,” Zelensky said.

The Ukrainian leader emphasized that a principled response from the international community to the Russians’ attacks on the Zaporizhia NPP is needed.

The shelling of ZNPP on August 6

Russian occupiers fired again on ZNPP in the evening of June 6. The enemy almost hit the containers of spent nuclear fuel. They stand in the open air near the impact site.

Each of the 174 containers contains 24 assemblies of spent nuclear fuel. The enemy damaged:

  • 3 radiation monitoring sensors around the site;
  • 800 square meters of window surfaces.

One person was injured. A ZNPP worker was hospitalized with a shrapnel wound.
