North Korea purchases Russian coronavirus vaccine – media

North Korea has purchased the Russian Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine, Asahi reported, citing sources in South Korean intelligence and Chinese business circles.

Information on the amount of the contract and the scope of delivery has not been specified.

According to the newspaper, at present, the Russian vaccine has begun to be selectively administered to representatives of the Labor Party of Korea. At the same time, there is currently no exact data on the vaccination of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

Correspondents of the publication also report that the DPRK was supplied with diagnostic equipment from China, including thermographs.

According to official data, there have been no cases of coronavirus infection in North Korea. Since late January, the country has implemented stringent restrictive measures that included closing borders, shutting down schools and imposing a nationwide quarantine.

Recall that in early December, the Chinese Foreign Ministry did not confirm information about the vaccination of the DPRK leader with a Chinese drug against COVID-19.
