North Korean hackers accused of attacking nuclear institute

Ha Tae Geun, chairman of the People's Power Party of South Korea, said their North Korean neighbors had attacked the state nuclear research institute's network.

It is reported that a total of 13 devices took part in the attack – this is the number of unauthorized IP addresses that got into the internal network of the Institute of Atomic Energy. At the same time, the attack itself, according to the latest data, occurred on May 14, 2021, but it was decided to tell about it only now.

Representatives of the institute noted that the protection of her network was bypassed using vulnerabilities in the VPN. At the same time, the scientific institution has already blocked all extraneous IPs and updated the network security.

At the moment, the incident is being investigated, including the assessment of the extent of the damage.
