Number of Russian and Turkish military in the joint center in Karabakh named

Turkey and Russia will send 60 servicemen each to the Joint Turkish-Russian Center for Nagorno-Karabakh. These figures were named by Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, his words are quoted by the Sabah newspaper.

The diplomat said the center will be located in Aghdam region, construction has already begun. “At the first stage, a center will be built, where 60 Turkish and Russian servicemen will serve each,” he said. Cavusoglu added that Turkey has already started sending military personnel.

Earlier, the Turkish Defense Ministry spoke about the signing of a protocol, according to which the Joint Turkish-Russian Center for Nagorno-Karabakh will operate. At the same time, at the end of December, the defense ministry named a different number of Turkish servicemen who are planned to be quartered in the center – one general and 35 officers.

On November 9, the leaders of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan adopted a joint statement suggesting an end to hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh from November 10. The parties to the conflict stop at their positions. Azerbaijan will gain control over the territories of Aghdam, Gazakh, Kelbajar and Lachin regions. Russian peacekeepers will enter the region: their units will be deployed along the line of contact and the Lachin corridor, which connects Nagorno-Karabakh with Armenia. Also, a Russian-Turkish monitoring center is being created on Azerbaijani territory, which will monitor compliance with the ceasefire.
