Second division Kapfenberger SV is in the 2nd round of the ÖFB Cup after a rollercoaster of emotions and goal spectacle. The Styrians gave away a 2-0 win in their 5: 3 away win against third division First Vienna on Sunday, conceded three goals in a row after being excluded and managed to turn things around after a 45-minute deficit in the finish.

The Vienna, which had only failed in the quarter-finals last year by Sturm Graz, missed the next surprise on the Hohe Warte. Matthias Puschl (17th, 37th) for Kapfenberg and Vienna striker Mario Konrad (46th, 55th) scored twice. The unlucky person of the day was Vienna goalie Fabio Jäger (18), who was twice a Kapfenberger Pressing victim after receiving back passes (17./64.). In the end, two youngsters made everything clear for the Styrians. The 17-year-old “Joker” Luca Hassler put it 4: 3 (85th), the 16-year-old Stefan Kordic scored with a free-kick to the final score (88th).

Only two teams from the first two leagues failed on the opening weekend. Altach was the only Bundesliga team to slip 1: 2 at the regional division Kalsdorf, Horn said goodbye with a 0: 1 in Schwaz. Three more games – including two games postponed due to weather conditions – have to be played in the first round. The draw for the 2nd round (September 21-23) will only take place afterwards.
