The former chief sanitary doctor of Russia, Gennady Onishchenko, assessed the danger of a hybrid of delta and omicron coronavirus strains found in Cyprus. It is reported by Life.ru.
According to the epidemiologist, experts from the World Health Organization (WHO) will give an assessment after studying this mutation. He stressed that the most effective way to combat COVID-19 is vaccination and revaccination.
“Virus strains cannot interact with each other, they are created and come into being in the fight against us, and not among themselves. Most likely, here we can talk about the fact that those mutations that were in the predecessor of the omicron have been preserved, “Onishchenko said.
Earlier it became known that a new variant of coronavirus infection was discovered in Cyprus, it is a hybrid of previously identified strains “delta” and “omicron”. Scientists from the Laboratory of Biotechnology and Molecular Virology at the University of Cyprus, who have identified a new type of disease, gave it the name “deltacron”.
