Only VIPs can be admitted to the opening ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics
Only high-ranking representatives can be admitted to the opening ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics, the Asahi newspaper writes, citing sources.
According to them, the Japanese government is currently studying the issue of admission to the event of a VIP-pesong, which will include important foreign guests, representatives of the sponsors of the Games and diplomats. Moreover, their number will be significantly less than 10 thousand people, as previously assumed.
In addition, it is noted that in order to avoid the spread of coronavirus, events after 21:00 will be held without spectators, and the rest of the time, the Olympic facilities will only be half full.
All organizational issues regarding the Games will be discussed on Thursday at the talks, which will be attended by the Governor of Tokyo and IOC President Thomas Bach. Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga said that the Olympics could be held without spectators at all.
Earlier it was reported that about 40% of the competitions at the Summer Olympics in Tokyo can pass without spectators.
Recall that the ROC executive committee approved the composition of the Russian team for the upcoming Games. The list included 335 people, which is 50 more than at the previous Olympics. On June 30, Russian President Vladimir Putin met with the national team.
Recall that the Tokyo Olympics will be held from July 23 to August 8.
