The famous opera singer Anna Netrebko has finally admitted that not a “special operation”, but a war is going on in Ukraine. But, most likely, the sanctions, and not sincere repentance, helped Putin's supporter to see clearly.
On Wednesday, March 30, Anna Netrebko published a post on her Facebook page in which she directly condemned the war against Ukraine. She stressed that she allegedly is not an ally of the Kremlin, and met with Putin only a few times.
Represented Putin in the elections and took pictures with Tsarev
However, the facts show otherwise. This opera singer has supported Kremlin propaganda for many years. In particular, Netrebko was Putin's confidant in the elections, spoke at the opening of the Olympics in Sochi, and in 2014 even took a picture with the flag and separatist leader Oleg Tsarev.

Now Anna Netrebko emphasizes that she is not a member of any party and is not associated with any leader of Russia. And in general – she lives in Austria and, it seems, does not want sanctions against the Russians to concern her.
I have met President Putin only a few times in my life, notably on the occasion of the presentation of awards in recognition of my art and at the opening ceremony of the Olympics. I have never received financial support from the Russian government. I live in Austria and am its tax resident. I love my homeland, and I seek peace and unity only through my art,” Netrebko clumsily justifies himself.

She also apologized if her past actions or statements were “misinterpreted”. Of course, it is difficult to believe in the sincerity of these apologies. It's too late.
“Yeah, they've been misinterpreted… It's been 35 days of the war of the race against Ukraine, and the sleeping beauty has woken up. Life in New York is worth more than concerts in Syzran,” aptly Ukrainians note in the comments to the post. Foreigners share the same opinion.

The world's leading theaters refuse to work with Putin's artists
So, did conscience prompt the singer-Putinist to repent? Very doubtful. But the sanctions – Netrebko could well “see the light”. A few days after Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the American Metropolitan Opera refused to cooperate with the Russian singer.
The contract with Netrebko and another of her countrymen was broken by the Bavarian Opera. After that, Netrebko announced a pause in her concert activities. And now, it seems, she has decided that she will be able to “bleach” herself by stating a fact that has not been in doubt among the entire civilized world for a month already.
