The highlights of the 82nd day of the war/Collage of Channel 24

The Ukrainian army has been opposing the Russian army for 83 days. Our soldiers showed the whole world the courage and invincibility of the Ukrainian people.

01:50 The head of the Lviv OVA Maxim Kozitsky said that air defense was working in the Lviv region.

The official explained that Russia again fired at a military infrastructure facility in the Yavorivsky district, almost on the border with Poland.

He added that he would give more information in the morning and urged people not to ignore air raid signals.

01:32 Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi said that there was no confirmed information about missiles hitting the city. He thanked those who protect our sky, and also urged to respond to air raid signals.

In addition, he promised to report on the consequences of the attack by Russian enemies on the morning of May 17.

00 :47Several explosions were heard in Lvov during the air raid. Andrey Sadovyy confirmed this information and urged people to stay in shelters.

00:25 The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated that the Mariupol garrison had completed its combat mission. The High Command ordered to save the lives of the servicemen.

The High Military Command ordered the commanders of the units stationed at Azovstal to save the lives of the personnel.

00:17Volodymyr Zelensky on the night of March 17 published an appeal to the Ukrainians. The main theses of the president:

• the operation to rescue the defenders of Mariupol has been launched by our military, intelligence officers. To bring the children home, work continues, and this work requires delicacy and time;
• Severodonetsk and other cities of Donbass are still the main target for Russian invaders;
• the authorities are working on harmonizing the EU 6 package of sanctions against Russia;
• awarded 201 servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine;
• The title of Hero of Ukraine was awarded to Senior Lieutenant Kirill Agasiev, platoon commander of the 92nd Separate Mechanized Brigade, and posthumous Lieutenant Colonel Vyacheslav Yerk, commander of an aviation squadron of the 40th Tactical Aviation Brigade.

00:11Deputy Defense Minister Anna Malyar said that yesterday, on May 16, an operation was launched to rescue the defenders of Mariupol blocked on the territory of the Azovstal plant. In particular:

• 53 seriously wounded were evacuated to a medical facility in Novoazovsk in the occupied territory. They should be given medical assistance;
• 211 more people were taken to Olenevka through the humanitarian corridor.

Subsequently, they will be exchanged and returned home. As for the defenders who are still at Azovstal, the authorities are jointly carrying out measures to save them.

All the tasks set by the command of the defenders of Mariupol were completed in full. Unfortunately, we do not have the opportunity to release Azovstal by military means. The most important common task for all of Ukraine and the whole world is to save the lives of the defenders of Mariupol, – stressed Malyar.
