Pakistan summons French ambassador over cartoons of Prophet Muhammad

The Pakistani authorities have summoned the French ambassador because of the new publication of cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad after the murder of a school teacher by a Chechen near Paris. Reported by Reuters.

A French state official was summoned to the Foreign Ministry in Islamabad after Prime Minister Imran Khan accused French President Emmanuel Macron of “attacking Islam.” The politician also called on Facebook to remove “Islamophobic” content posted by users.

Other Muslim countries are also outraged by Macron's remarks: in Bangladesh, demonstrations were held under the slogan “Macron is the enemy of the world,” and in Kuwait and Qatar, shops refused French products.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan also called for a boycott of products from France, and previously recommended Macron to check his psyche. After that, France recalled the ambassador to Turkey.

The insult sounded because of the words of Macron about Islam, the reason for which was the murder of the history teacher Samuel Pati in a suburb of Paris by a Chechen. The French leader spoke critically about “Islamic separatism” in French borders: by this term he meant the closed nature of a number of Mohammedan communities. He promised to protect the country's secular values from radical Islam.

As previously reported, cartoons of the prophet were projected onto the wall of the town hall in the city of Montpellier. Earlier in the center of Paris and other cities of France, actions were held in memory of the murdered teacher. People took to the streets with slogans in defense of freedom of speech, republican freedoms and support for teachers. It is also known that the cartoons are going to be reissued as a separate book.
