FC Barcelona and the Spanish young international Pedri have agreed to extend the contract until 2026. As it became known on Thursday, the release clause in the 18-year-old's contract amounts to one billion euros. Pedri only moved five million euros from second division Las Palmas to the Catalans in summer 2020, where he had a steep career.

In his debut season, the midfielder made 53 appearances. Pedri then played for Spain at the European Championships (semi-finals) and then at the Olympics in Tokyo (final). In total, the teenager had 74 games by late summer. In the current season he is plagued with wounds.
