PlayStation 5 shortage will last until 2022

A Sony spokesman said the PlayStation 5 supply situation is unlikely to change anytime soon. The company expects the console shortage to last until 2022.

Sony has admitted that it is unable to meet the demand for the PlayStation 5. Company representatives do not think that demand will decrease this year. Even if Sony makes more consoles in 2022, the supply will still not be sufficient. The company also said that it has sold more than 100 million units of PlayStation 4, and therefore is confident that the PS5 will not be lower.

Sony plans to release at least 14.8 million new consoles in the new fiscal year, which began in April 2021. Until March 31, there were already 7.8 million PS5 sold.
