What is known about AHS Krab howitzers
AHS Krab is Polish national self-propelled howitzers, which use a licensed turret from the British AS90 howitzer.
The barrel length of the AHS Krab is 52 calibers. For the chassis, a South Korean platform from the K9 Thunder self-propelled guns was chosen.
The self-propelled guns battery includes:
- battery commander's command vehicle;
- 2 commanders' vehicles platoons;
- 8 155-mm self-propelled guns;
- 2 transport-loading vehicles;
- weapons and electronics repair vehicle;
- headquarters battery commander's vehicle.
Howitzers are produced by the Polish engineering company Huta Stalowa Wola. She received a contract from the Ministry of Defense to create 96 self-propelled guns. In December 2020, a contract was signed for 2 more divisions, and in May 2022, the company announced that it could produce three more.
