“Preparation of a terrorist attack” in Transnistria: there were comments from the authorities of Moldova and the SBU
In a separatist region on the territory of Moldova, the Ukrainian intelligence service was accused of attempting to assassinate an unnamed official of the pseudo-republic.
The so-called “Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic” announced the preparation of a terrorist attack against a local official, whose name was not released. In the center of the capital of the unrecognized republic, the city of Tiraspol, a Land Rover car filled with explosives was allegedly supposed to explode.
This was reported on Thursday, March 9, in the Telegram channel of the First Pridnestrovian TV Channel, controlled by the separatists.
Statement of the Transnistrian separatists
With reference to the so-called “Ministry of State Security”, the Transnistrian propagandists stated that the car parked on the roadside contained 8 kilograms of RDX, as well as “screws, nuts and wire.” The car was allegedly supposed to explode at the moment when one of the local officials drove past it.
Subsequently, the Pridnestrovian “siloviki” reported that six people were preparing the “terrorist attack”, two suspects, who are called connected with the SBU, were even detained.
On this occasion, the separatists tonight announced a statement by the self-proclaimed “president” of the so-called “PMR” Vadim Kresnoselsky.
SBU reaction
In the SBU, this statement of representatives of the so-called “Ministry of State Security” of the fake “Pridnestrovian People's Republic”, as well as any of their other statements, is asked to be considered solely as a provocation staged by the Kremlin.
“The Security Service of Ukraine urges not to take nonsense seriously, the dissemination of which is seen as a clear goal of Russia – to undermine the situation in the territory that is actually occupied and controlled by it, blaming our state for this,” the message says.
The SBU emphasized that lies and provocations are one of the types of weapons actively used by the Russian Federation.
Comment of the Moldovan authorities
Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Recean said he had no information about the preparation of a “terrorist attack” in Transnistria, NewsMaker reports.
“We have no confirmation. It is important that there is a stable situation in Moldova, peace and stability in the region. The Reintegration Bureau manages to maintain peace and stability on the left bank of the Dniester. There is no danger of escalation, there are no problems in this area,” the Moldovan prime minister said.
Recall that Russia does not leave attempts to destabilize the situation in Moldova and the occupied Transnistria. Recently, the statement of the Russians about the so-called “radioactive provocation”, which Ukraine is allegedly preparing in Transnistria, was called a “lie” in Moldova.
