Prigozhin suddenly declared that he did not see either the Nazis or NATO in Ukraine – ISW
Yevgeny Prigozhin denied the Kremlin's claims. This time, the owner of the Wagnerites said that Russia really is not at war with NATO.
He also questioned Russia's statements that allegedly there are “Nazis” in Ukraine and other theses of Russian propaganda. Analysts at the American Institute for the Study of War noted that Prigozhin effectively rejected the Kremlin's pre-war and post-war statements.
What did Prigogine say this time
Yevgeny Prigozhin has actually refuted the claims of Russian propaganda that Moscow seems to be at war with NATO in Ukraine. He also questioned the propaganda thesis whether there really are Nazis in Ukraine, as the Kremlin constantly claims.
Prigozhin said that Russia is fighting “exclusively with Ukrainians” equipped with NATO-provided equipment and some “Russophobic” mercenaries who voluntarily support Ukraine, but not with NATO itself, the ISW noted.
Also, the owner of the Wagner PPK added that Russian officials most likely knew that the North Atlantic Alliance would offer Ukraine assistance.
“It's ridiculous to think that when Russia decided to start a war, it did not take into account NATO's assistance to Ukraine,” Prigozhin said.
Also the owner of the Wagnerians added that:
- he is not sure about the purpose of “denatification” in Ukraine, because, they say, he no longer knows if there are “Nazis” in Ukraine;
- Russia “demilitarizes” Ukraine only when all Ukrainian troops are destroyed. It seems that these efforts are ongoing, but it is not yet clear whether they will be successful.
In addition, Yevgeny Prigozhin began to say that Russia could avoid a grueling long war if it now determines which borders it wants to seize. Also, “Putin's chef” called on the Russian military and the media to stop underestimating:
- Ukrainian forces;
- “intervention in internal conflicts.”
That is, in fact , Yevgeny Prigozhin rejected the Kremlin's pre-war and post-war statements that supposedly “Russia should defend itself against the threat of NATO in Ukraine.” Moreover, it effectively undermined the necessity and credibility of Russian dictator Putin's stated maximalist goals for his invasion of Ukraine.
Prigozhin is preparing to “move” to Africa
- Yevgeny Prigozhin, after the failures in the war in Ukraine, is preparing to curtail the activities of the Wagnerites on our lands.
- According to Bloomberg, citing people familiar with the matter, Prigozhin plans to deploy his fighters to Africa. After all, the Kremlin sees him as a threat, so he was banned from recruiting prisoners and deprived of supplies of ammunition.
- So far, there are no signs of the “transfer” of the Wagnerites. However, people familiar with the situation say deals in Africa are likely to come to his attention in the future. After all, the situation in Ukraine has become more difficult for his forces.
- Political scientist Oleg Sahakyan said that Prigozhin “politically and media has grown enough on this, now he will simply fix it and move to Africa.” After all, he needs to leave Ukraine and record losses. As for Africa, there are 10 countries where Russia has total influence.
